Beautiful Sunday :)

What a beautiful Sunny Sunday afternoon. It was a blessing to make it to the 11am church service today. It was a crazy morning. I want to thank all of you who left sweet comments, and prayers and to all my dear friends who read my blog, my church family, and my grandma.
I am still dealing with a bit of this flare up but I am feeling much better. I am looking forward to the this week, getting back into the swing of things. We took last week off from homeschooling, it was a good break and I needed the rest. The kids went to visit grandma, and had time to relax all week. Blake and I had a quiet day yesterday together. We went swimming and then rented a movie. The kids did a good job helping around the house on Friday, I was proud of them!

This is the 3rd day on all the vitamins, I am anxious to see if it will make a difference. I see a bit of a difference, I am not so exhausted. Praise God! I have really been soaking up God's Word and seeking what God's will is in my life. I am learning to thank God in everything. There are so many people hurting these days. I think of a couple dear blogger friends who have children with cancer. I can not imagine what they go through daily, but I know God does. He knows each of our trials.

I have some time to play in my Paint Shop program creating some new scripture tags.

God Keeps His Promises~ Fibromyalgia

Although I did not like what the doctor said and the condition I have, I do know God is in control. As I serched the internet I began to understand more about my condition. After years of Chronic pain, it feels good to know what is wrong. I will share more later. I am off to the pool now.

Hugs,
Brandie

Diagnosis : FIBROMYALGIA

What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a non-life-threatening, chronic disorder of the muscles and surrounding soft tissue, including ligaments and tendons. Its main symptoms are muscle pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and tender points at certain parts of the body. Many people describe fibromyalgia as feeling like a persistent flu.

Some health care providers may use these terms to refer to fibromyalgia: fibromyositis, fibrositis, periarticular fibrositis, muscular rheumatism, chronic muscle pain syndrome, musculoskeletal pain syndrome, or tension myalgia. However, "fibromyalgia," which means "pain of the muscles and other fibrous tissue," is the accepted term and has replaced some of the others. Terms ending in "-itis," which means "inflammation," are now considered incorrect because inflammation does not play a significant role in fibromyalgia.

Key Characteristics of Fibromyalgia
Muscle pain, either throughout the body or only at certain points, is the primary symptom of fibromyalgia. It may range from mild discomfort to pain severe enough to limit work, social activities, and everyday tasks. Pain commonly occurs in the neck, upper back, shoulders, chest, rib cage, lower back, and thighs and may feel like a burning, gnawing, throbbing, stabbing, or aching sensation and may develop gradually. It usually seems worse when a person is trying to relax and is less noticeable during activity.

A related, key aspect of fibromyalgia is the presence of "tender points," muscles and tendons that are tender when pressed. Typically, tender points are located in the neck, back, knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip.

People with fibromyalgia, which is also linked to depression, also feel moderately to severely fatigued and have sleep problems, including insomnia. This may result from restless legs and arms, which may disrupt their sleep, or they may suffer from sleep apnea or grind their teeth while they sleep.

Tender Points and Fibromyalgia
According to the American Academy of Rheumatology, for a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, you must have unusual tenderness at a minimum of 11 of 18 specific "tender points" associated with the condition. Some health care providers diagnose fibromyalgia in patients who have fewer tender points but who otherwise have severe, widespread (meaning upper and lower body occurring on both right and left sides) pain symptoms that are present for at least three months.

The standard tender points are located in the muscles or other soft tissue on both sides and the front and back of the body. Those who have fibromyalgia may have unusual tenderness at any of several other points on the body as well.

Who Is Affected by Fibromyalgia?
Experts estimate that 3 million to 6 million Americans have fibromyalgia. Of these, 80% are women. One of the main risk factors is being a woman between the age of 20 and 50. Another risk factor is having a rheumatic disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or Sjogren's syndrome. Fibromyalgia also seems to run in families, so a gene may be at least partly responsible for the condition. Most people with fibromyalgia begin to notice symptoms between the ages of 20 and 40, but children and older adults may also develop the condition. Women with fibromyalgia typically feel pain throughout their body, while men are more likely to have facial pain or pain and stiffness in a certain part of the body as a result of a work- or recreation-related muscle strain.

Bible Reading~Hope In The Lord

Rev 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Psalm 16:9
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Psalm 42:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance.

Psalm 42:11
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God

Poem~

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be ...

If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me ...

If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that "this will pass away, too!" ...

Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all the chains
That are binding me tight in "the darkness"
And trying to fill me with fear ...
For there is "no night without dawning"
And I know that "my morning" is near.

Wednesday~ Weight Loss

What are your situational cues?

Situational cues are also a big culprit when it comes to overeating. What kinds of situations do you encounter regularly that cause you to overeat? Some situational cues we have all been guilty of are: “It’s 12:00, time for lunch” or “It’s 6:00, time for dinner”. Situational cues also include the stimulation of our thoughts and senses as we pass Krispy Kreme or McDonalds. Thoughts, images, and smells trigger desires that are tough to pass up, especially when the tastiest of foods are so cheap and easily accessible. When thinking about situational cues, consider the following:

Do I eat because it’s mealtime or because I’m hungry?

Do I ignore my body when it’s really hungry because I’m too busy and then overeat later?

Do I indulge in foods because they’re convenient, smell good, or taste good rather than first considering my hunger level or health?

Are there emotional reasons you overeat?

The emotional cues that cause us to overeat are probably the most difficult to identify and overcome. A big reason for this is that most of us are too busy to tune into how we feel and are often in a state of “numbness”. Most people say, “I don’t eat because I’m sad or lonely. I just eat because I like to eat”. If you have trouble identifying emotional cues (e.g. stress, boredom, sadness) that lead to overeating, you will need to learn to slow down long enough to get in touch with what’s in your head. Your feelings are in there somewhere, though they may have become cobweb-laden in the busy-ness of life. If you often find yourself wanting to eat more even after a big meal, you might consider journaling out whatever comes to your head instead. You may be surprised what surfaces over time. The mere act of identifying a food craving, and allowing it to pass without indulging, is a huge step forward. Keeping a food diary and finding passions are very effective methods for overcoming emotional overeating, and you’ll get the scoop on these later.

Marriage~ Debt

So why is debt such a problem?

Debt promotes discontentment. When you're charging things with money you don't have, you are not content with your income. You cannot be patient. You cannot wait. You have to have it right now! But when you acquire things too easily without pride of ownership, it is easy to become dissatisfied quickly.

Debt makes arrogant presumptions about the future. By agreeing to have things now and becoming legally obligated to pay for them later, you make bold presumptions about what the future will hold in terms of money, ability and health. What makes you believe that although you don't have the money now you will have it later? But worse, you also promise that you will be willing to turn over money you don't have yet to pay for things you may not have anymore. What makes you think you will be all that thrilled about spending money you've not yet earned for stuff you probably won't even remember? That's an arrogant attitude and an irresponsible presumption on the future.

Debt requires you to transfer your future wealth to your creditors. If given the choice of sending monthly support checks to the wealthy credit card industry or sending those same checks to build your own future, would you really choose the former? Probably not. However, when you agree to stupid debt, that is exactly what you've done. Your choice has been made, and there is no way out but to make full repayment, no matter how difficult or unreasonable that will be.
Debt limits your options — and heavy loads of debt eliminate them altogether. Debt keeps people tied to jobs and careers they hate. It forces moms who would rather be home with their kids to work outside the home. It can even give Mr. Right second thoughts about taking on a prospective bride because of her heavy, debt-ridden baggage.

Debt steals your freedom and makes you a slave. When you are under a load of stupid debt, you are in bondage. You have no way out but to work off your sentence. King Solomon, the wisest man ever to have lived, summed it up this way: "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the servant to the lender" (Prov. 22:7).

Marriage~ Submission

Submission...a heavy topic to be sure! I could never begin to give my advice on this, or any topic apart from the Word of God. For me, the Lord used, and continues to use this matter of "submission" to draw me into a deeper relationship with Him.
In order to become submissive as a wife, we must first be submissive to the Lord. To try to do so any other
way would be to come in through the back door. Submission as man would define it is, "the act of yielding to power or authority, a yielding of one's will to the will of a superior without murmuring, surrender of the person and power to the control or government of another, obedience, resignation." While all this is true, we also need God's perspective on submission as laid out in His Word.
1 Peter 3: 1-6 has greatly ministered to my heart in this matter. "Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also WHO TRUSTED IN GOD, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement."
In case you hadn't noticed, our outward beauty fades day by day, but submission is an inward beauty that never fades. The Lord sees and places great value upon this inward beauty called submission, a meek and quiet spirit as the Bible defines it. This is what He would desire us as wives to excel in above our outward beauty. It is a tool in the hands of God to perform surgery on the heart of your husband to mold it and shape it into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.
It is through your submission to the husband that God has placed over you that you are in reality submitting to God Himself! We need to let the character of God determine the kind of wives we will be, not the character of our husbands! By submitting first to God, we can master this completely... Submission to your husband provides a pleasant atmosphere in your home for which the Holy Spirit can do His work of conviction in the hearts of those that live there. It is a work that the devil seeks to destroy in many homes, for he does not want to see men becoming more like Christ and he most definitely does not want marriages to stay together! He is in the business of breaking up homes... That is why submission is of great value to God for His voice can't be heard when there is stubbornness and arguing and pride present. It may seem a vulnerable position for us to be in as wives, but as Sara trusted in God, you and I need to trust in God as well and not be anxious about so many things. God will honor our submissive spirits by giving back to us tenderhearted and loving husbands who have responded to the Lord's moving in their hearts. What a special calling we have in being submissive. We are laborers together with God for the good of our homes!
Don't let the devil get you to believe that you are going to lose out or get taken advantage of if you submit to your husband....he is a great deceiver. He tried in Genesis 3 to get Eve to doubt God's Word and God's way, and he will try to do the same to us as wives today!
As a young Christian, I made the mistake of marrying an unsaved man and then found myself in the position of having to submit to one who did not care about the things of God at all. So began my rough and bumpy journey into submission and a deeper understanding of who God is... What looked to be the worst road to travel has become the road that has led me closest to my Lord. Don't be afraid to travel down this road called "submission" for you will miss out greatly on knowing the God of this universe in a most intimate way! I encourage you to trust Him and lean upon His Word for the strength, understanding, and guidance that only He can give to those who truly desire to be submissive wives. Do we submit then to anything at all our husbands ask of us?
In Colossians 3:18, God lays the boundaries out for women when it comes to submission. "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord." If our husbands ask us to go against what God would clearly consider sin, then we are not to submit to this, but rather to God's Word. For instance, if your husband is asking you to watch pornography, you would decline because God clearly calls looking on the nakedness of another sin (Mt. 5:27). In this case, Acts 5:29 would be the verse to obey, "...We ought to obey God rather than men." It is a delicate subject to be sure and one that should be sought out with much
prayer!

It's In The Valleys I Grow

So fitting....I love this poem...God is so good!!!

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,

Full of sorrow, trouble and woe,

It's then I have to remember

That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top

And never experienced pain,

I would never appreciate God's love,

And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn,

And my growth is very slow,

Sometimes I need the mountain tops,

But it's in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand

Why things happen as they do,

But I am very sure of one thing ...

My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing

When I picture Christ on the cross

He went through the valley of death;

His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining

When I'm feeling so very low

,Just give me a gentle reminder

That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me Lord,

And use my life each day,

To share your love with others

And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys Lord,

For this one thing I know ...

The mountain tops are glorious,

But it's in the valleys I grow!
