Marriage: Practicing Bitterness?

Are you Practicing Bitterness?

Were you mad at your husband today over something he did? Did you seeth with bitterness and intentionally avoid looking into his eyes so as to express your distain? Does he now bend to your anger and do better in hopes of escaping your condemnation? He practices his faults, and you practice your bitterness. You are both practicing DIVORCE. Your children watch and are practicing being poor mothers and fathers.
~Created To Be His Help Meet By Debi Pearl

After reading this....I sat and cried today. How many times have I did this in my marriage. We need to be very careful to not fall in this trap.

Let us pray...
Father help us as wives sort out our emotions from the facts. Help us to react in the correct manner to our spouse. Please forgive me for being selfish and not having a clean heart that forgives more easily.
In Jesus Name
Amen

(I read a Proverbs a day and record which verse or verses God speaks to me)
Proverbs 20

Proverbs 20:13
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

When I read this verse today it made me think of how important it is to teach my children how to be diligent about all that they do. I need to make sure that while I teach them at home they have a schedule.  Having a set bed time and a set arise time helps them develop a healthy way of living. I hear of many parents letting their children stay up until late hours in the night and then the child is free to get up whenever they feel like it. The Bible tells us to 'love' not sleep.

Proverbs 20:22

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; [but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

This verse speaks to me about getting even with someone. I should not try to get even but rather pray and wait on the Lord. He knows what that other person needs. I don't  know the other persons heart or motives. Often we assume things that are just not true. I need to leave it with God he will settle it.

Present Suffering Future Glory

Sermon Notes
"Present Suffering Future Glory"
Pastor Mailoux
Date: 8/19/12

Opening Verse: Romans 8:18
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

3 Causes For Suffering
~ The world is in a state of decay
~The laws of physical universe
~Sin

Reasons For Suffering
Daniel 3:16-18, 24-30
1. Prime means of suffering is for the glory of God
(Do we run from suffering ?)
2. Discipline for known sin

Hebrews 12:5-11
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
For they verily for a few days chastened [us] after their own pleasure; but he for [our] profit, that [we] might be partakers of his holiness.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
3. To Keep Us From Pride

2 Corinthians 12:7-10
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

4. To Build Faith
1 Peter 1:6-7
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

5. To Cause Spiritual Growth
Romans 5:3-5
And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

6. To Teach Us Contentment
Phil 4:11-13
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content.I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

7. Equip Us To Comfort Others
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

8. To prove the reality that Christ is in us
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.[We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

2 Timothy 1:12
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
